Following are some quotes from sophomore forward Jamaal Levy, who attended a press gathering today:
On his weight and strength:
"Yesterday I weighed in at 183, and last year I weighed 177, so it is up from last year. It is hard for me to gain weight. Last year was like a learning process. I went through a lot last year and it has helped make me become more assure and tougher mentally to prepare for basketball on the court."
On last year's slow start for him individually:
"When I went home -- when I lost my mom -- I missed a week of practice. That was the time that we were in preseason and last year we had three weeks of preseason because the coaches were teaching us new plays and everything. So when I got back, it was hard for me to get caught up with the team. Everything was just a different situation for me. The school, the different culture, everything was just different."
On his skills:
"I like to do a little bit of everything. I mean, I'm not a perfect player, but I like to get my teammates open, rebound. I like to play defense- man on man, or press. Of course, I like to shoot the basketball- that's the point of basketball."
