Volleyball Swept At Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Wake Forest volleyball team lost 3-0 at Maryland Tuesday night at Ritchie Coliseum. Led by Carey Brennan's 22 kills with no errors, the Terrapins barraged the Demon Deacons 30-21, 30-20, 30-25. Wake Forest never led the entire match and drops their second match of the season to Maryland after losing 3-1 at home on Oct. 5.
Middle blockers Kim Stern and Christy Williams led Wake Forest with eight kills each. Junior outside hitter Sara Beth DeLisle led the Demon Deacons defensively with 10 digs to go with six kills on the night. Senior setter Ashlee Phillips registered 27 assists in addition to seven digs, two blocks and three kills.
Hitting a season low 42 kills, 38 assists and tying a season low two service aces as a team, Wake Forest was shutout for the second time this season and the first since losing 3-0 at No. 11 North Carolina Oct. 11.
Maryland improves to 16-10 overall and 5-6 in the ACC with the win and Wake Forest drops to 11-14 overall and 4-7 in the ACC with the loss. The Demon Deacons return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2, when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to take on Virginia at 5:00 p.m.
