Women's Golf Leads In First Round Of Landfall

Wake Forest women's golf team shot a 10-over par 298 Friday at the Landfall Tradition hosted by UNC Wilmington. The Deacons are tied for first with the Arizona State Sun Devils in the 12-team tournament.
The 54-hole event continues Saturday and Sunday at the Landfall Golf Club, a Pete Dye design. The course measures 6,067 yards and par is 72.
Wake Forest senior Nuria Clau leads all individuals shooting a one-under par 71. She has a one shot lead on Arizona State's Sara Jones. Sophomores Ashley Hoagland and Christine Hallstrom both shot three-over par 75 and are in a seven-way tie for ninth. Senior Maria Beautell struggled early, but bounced back with an even-par backside in her five-over par round of 77. Freshman Julie McKenna added an eight-over par 80 for the Deacs.
