
Bennett Named NCAA Southeast Regional Coach of the Year

Annie Bennett, Wake Forest's head women's cross country coach, was named NCAA Southeast Regional Coach of the Year at the 2002 NCAA Championship banquet on Saturday night. The honor is Bennett's second coaching award this season, as she also received ACC Coach of the Year accolades.
This season, Bennett has guided the fourth-ranked Demon Deacons to five first-place and two second-place finishes. Her squad captured the Southeast Regional Championship on Nov. 16, receiving an automatic bid to nationals, and the ACC Championship on Nov. 2. The championships are the first the program since it was established in 1978.
The Deacs will compete in the NCAA Championships today in Terre Haute, IN.
