GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest junior second baseman Nick Blue shares this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week honors with North Carolina's Adam Greenberg.
Blue, a native of Fairfax, Calif., and graduate of Saratoga High School, picked up ACC Player of the Week recognition after helping the Demon Deacons to a perfect 5-0 record this past week, including wins over High Point, Virginia Tech and a sweep of Maryland.
Blue hit an amazing .750 (12-for-16) this week with his first home run of the season on Sunday, seven RBI, nine runs scored and an impressive seven stolen bases. He had a pair of four hit games this week, tying a career-best. On Friday against Maryland, Blue swiped four bases, the most by a Deacon in a single game since Billy Masse accomplished the feat in 1988.
The Demon Deacons are ranked third nationally and have an overall record of 33-6, 14-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Wake Forest hits the road this week for five games, beginning Tuesday against Charlotte in Kannapolis.
