Women's Golfer Nuria Clau Named To All-ACC Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest women's golfer Nuria Clau earned All-ACC honors for her junior year campaign of compiling five top 10 and one top 20 finish. Clau has turned out two second place finishes at the Lady Paladin Invitational and most recently at the ACC Championships this season. The Demon Deacon is currently ranked 21st by Golfweek/Sagarin Collegiate Rankings and has been in the rankings for 21 consecutive polls.
Duke University landed four individuals on the 2002 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Golf team as selected by a vote of the league's six head coaches. Leading the Blue Devil contingent is ACC individual medalist Candy Hannemann. Hannemann, a senior, has been named all-conference for four consecutive years.
Fellow Blue Devil Virada Nirapathpongporn, last year's Rookie of the Year, joins fellow teammates Niloufar Aazam-Zanganeh and Leigh Anne Hardin. In addition, earning All-ACC recognition were Kristin Tamulis from Florida State, Ashley Prange from North Carolina and Nuria Clau from Wake Forest. Tamulis earned all conference honors for the second consecutive year while Prange and Clau were named to the team for the first time.
Duke sophomore Virada Nirapathpongporn was selected as Player of the Year while teammate Niloufar Aazam-Zanganeh was selected Rookie of the Year.
Page Marsh, NC State's women's golf coach was chosen as the league's Coach of the Year. In her second season, she guided the Wolfpack to a third-place conference tournament finish, its highest since joining the league.
