Wake Forest head coach George Greer...
On tonight's win: "I thought Jamie D'Anotona got us off to a good start, getting a big hit in the first inning, after Ryan Johnson got a big hit for us with two outs and Tim Morley came in and pitched a great game."
On the possibility of playing two games tomorrow: "I think I'd rather be playing baseball than sitting at home doing nothing. Playing two games is great. We've got our swings back and we'll be ready to go tomorrow. The only pitcher who will not be available tomorrow is Timmy (Morley)."
Wake Forest catcher Stephen Ghutzman...
"Our backs are against the wall but I wouldn't say that they've got no pressure on them. We're the number one seed in this tournament and we've been top five all year long. They're going to come out here ready to play tomorrw, because they know they don't want to lose the first one. They're a very good teazm, they had a very good pitcher throwing for them today. They beat us in a close game, but they better come out ready to play tomorrow, because I know we will."
Wake Forest third baseman Jamie D'Antona...
"Everybody chipped in with a couple of hits here and there. Again, it just fell our way. It didn't in the first game. We left a lot of people on base, we hit into double plays and it seems like everything we hit, we hit hard, but right at somebody. It was just the opposite this game, everything we hit just seemed to fall. I think everybody contributed as much as they could. I think Tim threw one heck of a game and kept us in it the entire time."
Wake Forest pitcher Tim Morley...
"I just went in there. I knew it was a tough loss and I knew our team would be down, so I just tried as best I could to get us back up and get us back some momentum. I knew it would be nice to go nine innings; I wasn't really thinking about it, but going nine innings was great because now we have a lot more pitchers ready for tomorrow. It wasn't until I got deeper in the game that I started thinking about how important it would be to go nine innings."
Navy head coach Steve Whitmyer...
"Tim Morley was awesome. That might have, in my opinion, might have given a real good jolt to Wake, setting them up for tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to be an epic battle, I believe. That might go down to the last pitch. We're really impressed with Wake Forest and Richmond, but Wake just might be the best Wake Forest team I've ever seen, if you consider everything - power, good pitching. They've got a couple guys hurt and they're still pretty deep. Of course you've got Bush, so tomorrow should be a great day."
"Morley was key today. I think we had one chance to get ourselves in the ganme. We were down 7-0, we got a run and we got doubled off on a line drive and we had a chance to maybe get close."
On the season: "It all really started clicking for us at the end of the year. Our coaching staff kept harping on the guys to get better and play better as the year goes on, and just see what happens. We didn't really have any expectations, it was just that we wanted to feel that we coud go out there and compete if our pitching kept us in the game. That was really our story this weekend. The two games we got beat really bad our starting pitching didn't do it for us. The game we won, our starting pitcher basically won the game for us."
