  • Freshman pitcher Brian Bach made his first career NCAA Tournament appearance today. Bach appeared in his 17th game this season, his sixth as a starter, and he made his first starting appearance since a complete game win over Virginia Tech on April 24. Bach's five most recent appearances have been in relief.
  • Bach is the second freshman to start on the mound in this NCAA sub-regional. Freshman Tim Morley pitched a complete-game win over Navy last night.
  • Sophomore pitcher Kyle Sleeth made his second appearance of the sub-regional and his 18th appearance of the season. Today's effort, however, was his first this season in a relief role.
  • Adam Bourassa had three hits tonight, giving him 102 for the season. He is just the third player in Wake Forest history to reach 100 single-season hits. Jon Palmieri did it twice -- in 1998 and 1999 -- and Cory Sullivan did it twice -- in 2000 and 2001. His 102 hits tie for the fourth-most single-season hits in Wake history.
  • Sophomore Jamie D'Antona hit his 20th home run of the season tonight. That puts him in a four-way tie for second place in Wake Forest history for single-season home runs. Billy Masse holds the record with 24 home runs in 1998. D'Antona, Danny Borrell, Bill Merrifield and Chris Kowlick all hit 20 each. D'Antona has 37 career homers, which ranks tied for seventh in WFU history.
  • D'Antona has 83 RBI this season, which ranks second in Wake Forest history behind only Jon Palmieri, who had 94 RBI in 1999.
  • Wake Forest stole its 75th base of the season. Only two teams in Wake Forest history -- the 2001 team (96 SBs) and the 1988 team (80 SBs) -- had more single-season pilfers than this Deacon team.
