CHICAGO, Ill. - Nuria Clau and Caroline Stetler, both members of the Wake Forest women's golf team, were selected by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) to the 2001-2002 All-Scholar Team.
Clau, a Mathematical Business major from Barcelona, Spain who enters her senior season this year, earned honorable mention All-America honors this past season after leading the Demon Deacons with seven top 20 finishes and five top 10 finishes. A two-time NGCA Academic All-American, Clau tied for second place at the ACC Championships, earning All-ACC honors. Ending the 2002 season ranked 20th nationally, Clau led Wake Forest to a 22nd place finish at the NCAA Championships, finishing 31st individually.
Stetler, an English major from Naples, Fla., who enters her senior season this year, played in six events last year, carding a 78.98 stroke average. She placed 13th at the ACC/SEC Shootout.
The criteria for selection to the All-Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 (3.40 for juniors and seniors) and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
