Women's Golf Finishes 14th In Season Opener

Wake Forest women??s golf team finished the Women??s NCAA Fall Preview in 14th place in the tough 18-team field. Wake Forest shot a 16-over par 304 Tuesday to finish the tournament at 929 (65-over par).
The University of Arizona won the tournament with a 25-over par total of 889.
The 54-hole event started on Sunday and concluded today at the Kampen Course near Purdue University.
Sophomore Ashley Hoagland shot a 3-over par 75 and finished the tournament in a tie for 32nd with a 13-over total of 229. After struggling to an 84 on Monday, senior Nuria Clau shot a 73 (1-over), for a total of 234 (18-over). Clau??s 73 on Tuesday, was the low round for any Deacon in the tournament. Senior Maria Beautell added a 5-over 77 and finished with a total of 235 (19-over). Senior Caroline Stetler shot an 8-over 80 for a 20-over par total of 236. Junior Deborah Means shot a 79 Tuesday for a final score of 238 (22-over).
The Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex will be the site for the NCAA Championship in May. The stellar field consisted of 18 teams which finished in the top-23 of last year??s NCAA Championship, including all 10 teams from the top-10.
