
Coetzee Wins Singles Flight, Martzolf and Schwartz Capture Doubles

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team finished up competition at the William & Mary Invitational Sunday with positive results. Karin Coetzee won her singles flight, while the Demon Deacon duo of Katie Martzolf and Danielle Schwartz won their doubles flight.
Coetzee easily defeated Eldina Fazlic from Illinois 6-2, 6-1 in the finals of singles B flight. Martzolf and Schwartz took out Olsen and Sherbakov of William & Mary 8-4 in the finals of the doubles B flight.
Elizabeth Proctor finished second in the singles E flight, falling 6-0, 6-3 to William & Mary's Lingda Yang in the finals.
Martzolf upset No. 41 Mari Toro from Miami 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 in the consolation round of the first singles flight.
Aimee Smith blew by Katie Karhohs of Richmond in consolation play of the singles D flight, winning 6-3, 6-2.
Schwartz jumped out to an early 6-4 lead on Lindsay Cox from Richmond in consolation play of the singles C flight, but lost the next two sets 6-1, 6-4.
Coetzee and Smith lost 8-5 to DaCosta and Rutherford from Michigan in doubles A flight consolation.
