Winston-Salem, NC - The #1 ranked defending National Champion Wake Forest field hockey team will play the Davidson Wildcats (7-4, 3-0) on Wednesday at 7:00 pm in Davidson, N.C. Wake has not lost to the Cats since November 2, 1991.
The Deacs look to extend their current 30 game winning streak, having not lost in a contest since falling to James Madison University on September 8, 2002. With her seventh shut out this season last Sunday, Senior Goalkeeper Katie Ridd brought her career shut out total to 25, second only to Kim Irvine, who holds the Deacs' record with 31.
The Wildcats opened the season with four losses, but have since won seven in a row, most recently dropping Albany, 2-0 Saturday. Davidson's last lost was September 10, as they fell, 6-0, to the #2 ranked North Carolina Tarheels.
The Wildcat-Deacon rivalry began during the 1976 season, with Davidson winning both games that year. Wake leads the all time series 21-15-2, with the current winning streak at 11 games for the Deacs.
Following the Davidson game, the Deacons face the #4 ranked Duke Blue Devils, who will travel to Winston-Salem for Sundays contest at Kentner Stadium. Action is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
