Seven Demon Deacons Earn NFHCA Division I Honors of Distinction; Team Earns 2025 National Academic Team Award

It ranks as the second-most athletes placed on the list in the ACC.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Seven Wake Forest field hockey student-athletes were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Scholars of Distinction, and the 2025 squad also earned the organization's National Academic Team Award, the NFHCA announced Tuesday.
Wake Forest was one of 60 programs recognized after achieving a team grade-point average of 3.50 or higher during the fall semester.
On the individual side, senior Amelia Frey earned her fourth Scholar of Distinction honor, while Brooke Bettencourt, Ruby Butterfield, Brenna Campagna, Georgia Leary, Mia Montag and Georgia Pollock also received recognition. The seven Demon Deacons were among 341 student-athletes nationwide to earn the distinction.
To qualify, student-athletes must achieve a cumulative grade-point average of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the academic year and be nominated by their NFHCA member coach.
The national recognition comes after Wake Forest placed 13 individuals on the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic All-ACC team and 17 on the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.
