WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore Liz Strunk paced four players in double figures with 14 points, while the Demon Deacons limited Hampton to just 22.8% shooting from the field en route to a 64-43 rout in women's college basketball action from Joel Coliseum Monday night.

Strunk finished a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor, falling just shy of her career high of 16 points set last season against UAB on Dec. 15. The forward also grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists, picked up a pair of steals and blocked one shot. Strunk, who scored all 11 of her points against Loyola on Nov. 21 in the second half, scored 12 of her 14 points after halftime.

Erin Ferrell chipped in 13 points and five rebounds, while Tracy Alston and Cotelia Bond-Young added 11 and 10 points respectively. Alston also continued her strong effort on the glass. The senior grabbed seven boards. Porsche' Jones was the team's leading rebounder. Listed at 5-foot-3, Jones collected eight rebounds, six of which came on the defensive glass. Bond-Young also dished out a team best four assists.

Holding just a six point lead at halftime, the Demon Deacons put the game away with a 27-4 run over the first 10 minutes of the second stanza. Wake Forest extended its lead to as many as 29 points, 52-23. The Deacs held the Lady Pirates scoreless over a stretch of 5:41. Hampton would not recover.

Lynetta Sullivan led the Lady Pirates with 15 points, while Nicole Brathwaite added 10. Tiffani Williams corralled a game high 13 rebounds.

Hampton hit just 13 of its 57 shots from the floor, including 1-for-9 from behind the 3-point arc. The Lady Pirates did shoot 88.9% (16-of-18) from the free throw line.

Wake Forest slowly pulled out to an 11 point lead, 21-10, with 4:09 remaining in the first half, but Hampton chipped away at the lead. The Deacs went cold from the floor in the final five minutes of the half, scoring just four points. In fact, the Lady Pirates narrowed the deficit to just six points, 25-19, at halftime thanks to their efficiency from the free throw line. Hampton was able to hit seven of eight from the charity stripe in the first 20 minutes.

While free throw shooting kept the Lady Pirates close in the first half, it was the same that discipline where Wake Forest struggled. The Deacs managed to shoot only 50% (9-for-18) from the free throw line.

The Deacs return to action this weekend at the University of Central Florida Golden Panther Classic in Orlando, Fla. Wake Forest opens action this Friday, Nov. 28, against Nicholls State. Tipoff with the Lady Colonels is scheduled for 5 p.m. The Deacs then face Purdue on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 3 pm.
