Wake Forest junior right-handed pitcher Kyle Sleeth was named Atlantic Coast Conference pitcher of the week, the league announced on Monday.
Sleeth, a native of Westminster, Colo., defeated Appalachian State on Opening Day for the Deacons. He fired six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits with nine strikeouts and no walks. More notably, it was Sleeth's 21st straight win which set a new ACC record, previously held by former major leaguer Scott Bankhead.
Meanwhile, Florida State's Tony Richie was named ACC Player of the Week.
