Wendel Wins 800m at Carolina Heels Challenge

The Wake Forest men and women's track and field teams were in action on Saturday at the Carolina Heels Challenge in Chapel Hill, NC. While none of the Demon Deacons qualified or broke any records this weekend, several individual achievements highlighted the event as four personal records fell and eleven top-five finishes were brought home by Wake Forest.
Adralyn Wendel won the 800m with a time of 2:14.95, while Kara Mullin set a personal time of 2:15.95 for second place and Anna Sherman finished third with a time of 2:16.19. Cassy Richards also set a personal time of 25.73 in the 200m for fifth place, while Geneva Long came in 19th with a time of 28.63. In the 400m, Shauna Danos took sixth place with a time of 59.17 and Jackie Muscente placed 15th with a time of 1:01.64. Three Demon Deacons posted top-10 finishes in the 3,000m as Candy Hitchcock took sixth with a time of 10:49.31, Elizabeth Hagood in seventh with a 10:49.94 and Caitlin Dempsey in eighth with a 10:53.02. Catherine Fortin-Major captured sixth in the Mile with a personal record time of 5:04.22, Courtney Lancashire took ninth with a time of 5:06.26, Molly Nunn in 17th with a time of 5:21.39 and Ashley Dunigan in 18th with a time of 5:23.36. Also setting a personal mark was Elizabeth Washam in the Pole Vault who placed 14th with a mark of 11-1.75. In the Long Jump, Richards captured fourth with a mark of 18-4.5 and Jill Kovalcik took 11th with a mark of 17-0.5. Lindsay Neuberger came in 12th in the Weight Throw, while Jen Leesman placed 18th.
On the men's side, Patrick Ladapo ran a 22.21 for second place in the 200m, Eric Seely came in third with a 22.25 and Willie Idelette placed eighth with a 22.47. Ladapo also came in 11th in the 60m with a time of 7.05, while Josh Gattis took 12th with a time of 7.06. Gattis also captured fourth in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.52. In the 400m, Seely finished fifth with a time of 49.64, Idelette in seventh with a time of 50.70 and Mike Brown in 13th with a time of 51.90. Dave Barrett took seventh in the mile with a time of 4:29.11 and Brandon Bartholomew in 10th with a time of 4:33.42, while Michael Eskind finished 19th in the 800m with a time of 2:04.92. Fabian Davis placed fifth in the Triple Jump with a mark of 45-9.25, while in the Shot Put, Josh Carter came in 11th and Michael Piscetelli finished 14th. Luke Orman took third in the Long Jump with a mark of 22-4.5 and jumped a 6-6 in the High Jump for sixth, while Davis took eighth with a mark of 6-4. Adam Gabrault finished in eighth in the Weight Throw with a mark of 44-9.5
