Davidson, NC - The 14th-ranked Wake Forest baseball team scored in every inning and rolled to a 17-6 victory on Wednesday night at Davidson.
It was the fifth straight win for the Deacons to improve to 20-7 on the season. Wake Forest has won 14 consecutive contests against Davidson, George Greer's former team.
Davidson slipped to 9-15 on the season.
Ryan Johnson got Wake Forest on the scoreboard first with a first inning home run, his eighth of the season. Ryan Hubbard blasted his first home run of the year in the fourth inning. Brad Scioletti drilled pinch-hit homer in the seventh inning, his third of the season.
Freshman Kyle Young earned his first collegiate win for five innings, allowing just one earned run on eight hits with four strikeouts and three walks.
Nine different Deacons drove in runs led by sophomore shortstop Ben Ingold and his career-high five RBI. Ingold went 4-for-5 at the plate with a double. His middle infield parter, second baseman Chris Getz, was 3-for-4 with a triple, RBI and three runs scored. Jamie D'Antona was 3-for-6 with a triple and an RBI.
Seth Hill came out of the bullpen and pitched effectively striking out three in two innings of scoreless relief. Brian Bach and Kirby Wedekind pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth, respectively.
The Deacons will return to action this weekend in Tallahassee, Fla., with three games against third-ranked Florida State.
