Women's Tennis Dominates Richmond, 7-0

Winston-Salem, NC - The Wake Forest women's tennis team snapped a 17-game losing streak on Saturday, crushing Richmond, 7-0, at the Indoor Tennis Center. The Demon Deacons won two of three doubles matches and conquered all six singles matches to take the victory.
Deacon Duo Karin Coetzee and Aimee Smith picked up an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles over Spiders Lindsay Cox and Vanessa Bagnato. At No. 2 doubles, Katie Martzoff and Danielle Schwartz teamed up to blank Richmond's Katie Karhohs and Casey Cohan, 8-0. Elizabeth Proctor and Sandie Knight's efforts at No. 3 doubles fell short, 8-6, to Richmond duo Meghan Wolfgram and Courtney Klein.
Coetzee won 6-0, 4-0 (ret.), over Wolfgram at No. 1 singles, while Martzoff defeated Cox, 7-6 (4), 6-3, at No. 2 singles. Smith fought past Bagnato at No. 3 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (12-10). Three Deacons took victories in straight sets, Proctor at No. 4 singles (6-2, 6-1), Knight at No. 5 singles (6-3, 6-3) and Schwartz at No. 6 singles (6-2, 6-0).
With the win, Wake Forest improves to 2-18 overall, while Richmond falls to 7-6. Up next, the Demon Deacons face NC State on Sunday at Leighton Stadium.
