Women's Golf To Compete In NCAA East Regional

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The 14th-ranked Wake Forest women's golf team is competing this week in the NCAA East Regional at Salem Glen Country Club in nearby Clemmons, N.C., May 8-10. This marks the 11th time in 12 years that the Demon Deacons will compete in the NCAA East Regional under head coach Dianne Dailey.
Salem Glen measures 6,116 yards and par is 71. The Deacons recently finished second in the ACC Championship, which was held at Salem Glen. The Deacons will start off the tournament on Thursday with the first tee time at 7:40 am. The Deacs tee off round two at 11:40 am on the 10th
Competing for the Deacs this week will be the ACC Player of the Year Nuria Clau, fellow senior Maria Beautell, junior Deborah Means, and sophomores Ashley Hoagland and Christine Hallstrom.
The 2003 East Region field includes Duke, Arizona, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Georgia, South Carolina, Tulane, North Carolina, Florida State, South Florida, East Carolina, Furman, UNC Wilmington, NC State, Mississippi State, Penn State, Mississippi, Western Carolina, Georgia State and St. Francis.
The top eight teams in the region will advance to West Lafayette, Ind., to compete in the NCAA Championship May 21-24.
