Volleyball Rolls Past Tennessee Tech

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- The Wake Forest volleyball team blanked Tennessee Tech, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Gymnasium. This marked the Deacs' second win in as many games in the 2003 Deacon Invitational while the Golden Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season. Earlier in the day, Kentucky defeated SMU by a score of three games to two in match three of the tournament.
Valerie Rydberg led the way with 14 kills and ten assists for the Demon Deacons while Laura Sidorowicz recorded 14 kills of her own for Tennessee Tech.
Wake Forest took game one by a score of 30-25, then cruised to a 30-17 victory in game two before finishing off the match with another 30-25 win in game three.
Six different Demon Deacons notched at least five kills, including setter Erin Borhart who recorded a game high 35 assists.
Two matches remain in the Deacon Invitational which will be concluded on Saturday evening. Kentucky will face Tennessee Tech at 5 p.m. while host Wake Forest plays SMU at 7 p.m. in the final match of the weekend.
