GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest's Kelly Doton was tabbed the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week after leading the top-ranked Demon Deacons to two victories over the weekend. In the conference opener against fifth-ranked Duke, the senior forward/midfielder assisted on two goals for two points to help the Deacs to a 3-1 win over the Blue Devils in Durham. Doton connected with junior Kelly Dostal early in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and put the Demon Deacons ahead for good.
In Sunday's game against Kent State, Doton scored her first goal of the season on a fast break from five yards out to beat the Flashes' 4-0. For the weekend, the Greenfield, Mass., native finished with four points, one goal and two assists.
Last year, Doton was named the ACC Player of the Year as well as garnering first team All-American honors as a junior.
Doton and the Demon Deacons are back in action this weekend as they host Virginia Commonwealth and eighth-ranked Michigan State at Kentner Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, both games starting at 1 pm.
