Demon Deacons Roll Past Campbell

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- The Wake Forest volleyball team swept the Campbell Fighting Camels in three consecutive games on Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Gymnasium. The Demon Deacons took the first game by a score of 30-18, then slipped past the Camels with a 36-34 win, and finished off the match with an easy 30-13 performance. This marks the Deacs' fifth straight win and second in as many games at the Black & Gold Challenge. Wake Forest improved to 9-1 on the season while Campbell slipped to 0-11.
Sophomore Christy Williams led the way for the Demon Deacons, recording 17 kills and two block assists. Sophomore Erin Borhart also played a strong match, finishing with 12 digs, eight kills and 42 assists. Five Wake Forest players, including Borhart and Williams, contributed with at least six kills.
Borhart received the most votes and took home MVP honors at the Black & Gold Challenge while Morgan Havig was also named to the All-Tournament Team. Tiffany Guthrie and Divona Cox of Radford and Rachel Templin of Campbell rounded out the All-Tournament Team.
The Demon Deacons will take on the 19th ranked Louisville Cardinals at 7 pm on Saturday evening.
