Wake Forest's Chris Paul was named the ACC Rookie of the Week Monday after leading the Deacons to two victories over North Carolina A&T and New Mexico.
Paul is the first Wake Forest player to earn the honor three times since Robert O'Kelley was the ACC Rookie of the Week four times in 1997-98. O'Kelley, Loren Woods (4 times), Rodney Rogers (5), Sam Ivy (3) and Charlie Thomas (3) are the only Wake Forest players to earn the honor three times or more.
Georgia Tech's Chris Bosh and UNC's Raymond Felton both won the honor three times last year.
For the week, he combined to score 27 points while posting nine assists, nine steals and a blocked shot. Paul was 7 of 15 from the field, while shooting 63 percent from three-point range and a perfect 8 of 8 from the free throw line in both games.
Against New Mexico, the Lewisville, N.C., native recorded 18 points including a career-high four three-pointers. Paul also accumulated six assists and five steals against the Lobos to lead No. 6 Wake Forest to the 70-61 victory.
