Matt Kerr Hired As Assistant Track And Field Coach

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Track and field director Annie Bennett announced the hiring of assistant coach Matt Kerr, as the newest addition to the Wake Forest Track and Field staff.
"Matt brings not only experience from his days as an NCAA athlete, but also an understanding of what it takes to compete and win on the national level," said Bennett. "He was an individual NCAA Champion and also competed on the world level. He will be a great asset to our program."
Kerr comes to Wake Forest as an assistant coach for the men's and women's cross country and track and field teams. He will spend much of his time working with the male distance athletes.
An Ontario, Canada native, Kerr graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2000 with a degree in Business Administration. A four year Dean's list member and Academic All-American, Kerr was an individual NCAA Champion in the Steeplechase in 1998 and 1999.
During his time at Arkansas, the Razorbacks pocketed 10 NCAA Team Championships and 12 SEC team championships. Kerr was a four-time SEC Individual Champion and a six-time All-American.
During postgraduate studies at the University of Wollongong in Wollongong, NSW, Australia, Kerr was a five-time Australian University Games Champion. Kerr graduated from Wollongong in December 2002 with a masters in Business Administration.
In 2003, Kerr was the Canadian National Champion while a member of Team Canada. He also qualified for the World Track and Field Championships in that same year.
He currently resides in Winston-Salem with his new bride, assistant coach Jill Snyder Kerr.
"I am honored to be apart of the Wake Forest Athletics Department," said Kerr. "I feel privileged to be working under the guidance of such a great coaching staff and I'm looking forward to contributing to the future success of the XC/Track program and to Wake Forest University as a whole."
