Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team travels to Destin, Fla. for the annual ACC/SEC Golf Challenge. The Deacons tied for fourth at the tournament last year. Florida State hosts the 15 team field at the Raven Golf Course. The par 71 course is 5,937 yards.
"After a two week break, we are excited to be competing again," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "The students have been working hard and are looking forward to playing the Raven Course at Sandestin. We will be facing another challenging field but we are confident of a strong finish."
Last year, Deb Means, Christine Hallstrom, Mandy Goins, Maggie Simons and Julie McKenna were the Deacons that traveled to the tournament. Means and Hallstrom paced the team with rounds of 73 and 75, tying for a sixth place finish. No Deacon finished outside of the top-20. Blue Devil Liz Janangelo was the individual champion and led Duke to the team championship as well.
This year's squad offers Hallstrom, Goins, Simons, Ashley Hoagland and Laura Crawford, all of whom have competed in the last two events for the Deacons this fall. The field of participants includes Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisiana State, Maryland, Miami, Mississippi State, North Carolina, N.C. State, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wake Forest.
Action starts Friday in Destin, Fla.
