Women's Tennis Concludes WFU Invitational

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest Invitational concluded Sunday afternoon with a strong showing by the women's tennis team. Both Katie Martzolf and Jenna Loeb won their final matches of the tournament in the Flight A draw in consolation play. Martzolf defeated Kristen James of Virginia 6-2, 6-2 while Loeb beat J.J. Larson of Virginia Tech 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (10-4).
In Flight B singles, Alisha Talbot dropped a close match to Ashley James of Virginia Tech 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5). In Flight C singles, Blakely Offutt fell to Caroline Hammond of Virginia 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles play, the team of Martzolf and Loeb defeated Swain/Murray of Charlotte 8-6 in Flight A consolation. In Flight B, Offutt and Talbot dropped a tough match in the finals to Stern/Hammond of Virginia.
Karin Coetzee and Ashlee Davis of Wake Forest will travel to California on Monday for the All American Qualifying event.
