
Cross Country Women Finish Fourth At ACC Championships

College Park, Md. - The Wake Forest women's cross country team finished fourth in the 27th Annual ACC Cross Country Championship. Sophomore Selina Sekulic paced the Deacons with a seventh place finish, earning her All-ACC honors for the first time in her career. Sally Meyerhoff and her Duke Blue Devils captured the individual and team titles, respectively.
Sekulic ran a 22:11.0 on the women's 6k course, not far behind Meyerhoff who ran to victory with a 21:34.2. Fellow sophomore Michelle Sikes, the 2003 ACC Freshman of the Year, finished 12th, after a 22:37.6 run. With the new ACC rule, the top-14 finishers earn All-ACC honors, so Sikes earns All-ACC for the second consecutive year.Caitlin Chrisman and Hanna Bremler placed 21st and 22nd, respectively to round out the top-25 for the Deacons.
Jill Miller placed 32nd, followed by freshman Liz Hankinson who earned 42 points for the Deacons. Molly Nunn and Staci Honeyman completed the Deacon squad, finishing 54th and 58th.
Senior Annie Bersagel, who was expected to run in Saturday's race, did not compete for the Deacons.
Wake Forest returns to action at the NCAA Southeast Regionals in Greenville, N.C. on Nov. 13.
