Women's Tennis Falls To #18 Texas A&M

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team dropped its match with #18 Texas A&M, 4-0, in non-conference action from the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center Sunday afternoon. The Demon Deacons fall to 5-2 on the season, while the Aggies improve to 4-5.
Texas A&M captured the first doubles game. Nicki Mechem and Jessica Roland defeated Danielle Schwartz and Aimee Smith at No. 3 doubles, 8-3. The Demon Deacons came back and captured No. 3 doubles. Karin Coetzee and Liz Proctor beat Anna Lubinsky and Helga Vieira, 8-5. With the crucial doubles point on the line, Roberta Spencer and Lauren Walker of Texas A&M came out on top of an 8-5 decision over Ashlee Davis and Katie Martzolf.
The Aggies rode the momentum and took the first three singles matches. The remaining matches were called before completion.
Walker blanked Schwartz, 6-0, 6-0 in straight sets. Lubinski and Mechem each followed with straight set victories over Proctor and Smith, respectively.
Wake Forest did lead two of the remaining three matches before they were called.
