GREENSBORO, N.C.-- The ACC announced Monday that Wake Forest junior Derrick Spice was named performer of the week after his upset victory over William and Mary's Jeff Kader on Saturday in Williamsburg. Kader entered the match ranked 26th in the nation, but Spice's 6-3, 6-3 victory helped the 33rd ranked Demon Deacons to a 4-3 win over the 47th-ranked Tribe.
Spice has won two of his three singles matches at No. 1 so far this season after going just 1-1 in the No. 1 slot in 2003. The North Olmsted, Ohio native and 2002 ACC Rookie of the Year earns ACC Player of the Week honors for the second time in his career at Wake Forest.
The Demon Deacons return to action this weekend when they travel to Minneapolis to take on Minnesota and VCU on Friday and Saturday.
