Golf In 12th Place After First Round In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Wake Forest men's golf team is in 12th place following the opening round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship. The three-day, 54-hole event is taking place at Southern Highlands on a par 72, 7,440-yard layout.
The Deacons shot a seven-over 295 as a team on Friday. The University of Florida leads the 15-team field with an 11-under 277 on the opening 18. Deacon senior Bill Haas shot a four-under 68 in Friday's round - including six birdies - and is tied for fifth place in the individual standings. Haas is three strokes back of Arizona's Henry Liaw, who leads the field with a seven-under 65.
WFU freshman Sean Moore shot a three-over 75 and is tied for 43rd place. Sophomore Kyle Reifers and freshman Chad Wilcox both shot a four-over 76 on Friday and are tied for 56th place. Junior Doug Manchester carded a 79 on Friday and is tied for 73rd overall.
Wake Forest is paired with ACC rivals NC State and Georgia Tech for Saturday's second round. The grouping will tee off beginning at 8:27 a.m. (PST). Live scoring is available on www.golfstatlive.com.
