Demon Deacon Women's Tennis Blanked by #3 Florida

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 34th-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team lost 7-0 to 3rd-ranked and defending NCAA Champion Florida at the Leighton Tennis Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The Gators swept each of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. The 9th-ranked duo of Alexis Gordon and Julie Rotondi defeated Ashlee Davis and Danielle Schwartz, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles. The 24th-ranked Demon Deacon team of Karin Coetzee and Aimee Smith lost to #34 Jennifer Magley and Zerene Reyes, 8-4, at No. 2.
Boglarka Berecz and Nina Suvak slipped past Sandie Knight and Blakely Offutt at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
#2 Gordon defeated #14 Coetzee in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 1 singles position. Florida went onto sweep each of the next five singles' matches to secure the victory.
The Gators improved to 10-0 this season and have not captured 27 consecutive dual matches. The Deacs fall to 7-6 and have dropped four straight.
Wake Forest returns to action Sunday, Mar. 21 against ACC foe Florida State. First-serve is scheduled for Noon.
