Women's Golf to Compete in Liz Murphey Collegiate

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team will compete in their third tournament of the spring season when they head to Athens, Georgia for the Liz Murphey Collegiate. The 54-hole tournament at the University of Georgia Golf Course begins Friday, Mar. 26 and ends Mar. 28. The length of the course is 6,104 yards long and maintains a par of 72.
There are 16 other teams participating in the event including Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Duke, East Carolina, Florida State, Furman, Georgia, Kent State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Last year the Deacons finished in a tie for third place in the event after shooting a 27-over par 891 in three days of action.
Ashley Hoagland leads the Demon Deacon starters into the event with a 74.73 stroke average per round. Hoagland finished tied for 12th place last year after shooting six-over par for the tournament. Christine Hallstrom, Mandy Goins, Deb Means and Jessica Castle are the other team members competing in the event. Hallstrom and Means also participated in last year's tournament, placing tied for 41st and 53rd respectively. Maggie Simons is also participating in the event as an individual.
