Duke recorded a second round score of 286 and leads by 14 strokes after 36-holes of play at the 16th ACC Women's Golf Championship. The tournament is being held at the par 71, 6348-yard course at Salem Glen Golf and Country Club.
Duke increased the team lead to 14 strokes, after second place North Carolina fired a 294 to total 579 for the tournament. Wake Forest is in third with 582 stokes followed by Florida State (593) and NC State (596). Wake Forest shot a second round 292 (+8) and is 14-over par for the tournament. Virginia overtook Maryland for sixth place as they have accumulated 611 strokes over the first two rounds. In seventh place with 614 shots is Maryland.
Last year's individual medalist Meaghan Francella of North Carolina remains in the lead after a second round 69. She is seven-under par for the tournament with a two-day score of 135. Second place belongs to Brittany Lang of Duke, who is six-under par. Florida State golfer Katie Quinney recorded the low round of the day by firing a four-under 67.
Christine Hallstrom remained consistent, firing her second straight round of even par (71). For the tournament Hallstrom is tied for fifth place with a 142. Jessica Castle also carded a 71 to move her up to a tie for 19th place at 151 strokes in her two rounds.
Deb Means finished the day three-over par (74) and is four-over par for the tournament. As a result, Means is currently tied for eighth. Ashley Hoagland is also in eighth place after firing a five-over 76 for a two day total of 146. Mandy Goins has a two-day total of 159 after shooting an 11-over 82. She is tied for 31st place.
The final round will begin when Virginia and Maryland tee off at eight in the morning on hole number one. Florida State and North Carolina State will tee off at 8:35 while Duke, North Carolina and Wake Forest will tee off at 9:10.
