Women's Golf to Participate in NCAA Tournament

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The 14th-ranked Wake Forest women's golf team was selected on Monday to participate in the NCAA East Regional from May 6 through May 8. The 54-hole tournament at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort will be held in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida (near Orlando).
The selection marks the 12th straight year that the Wake Forest women's golf team has been chosen to participate in the NCAA East Regional. The Deacons have advanced to the NCAA Championship in seven of those 11 appearances.
Wake Forest is seeded fourth in the regional and is one of 21 teams participating in the event. The other teams in order of seeding are Duke, Auburn, Oklahoma State, Nevada-Las Vegas, Florida, North Carolina, Tulane, Louisiana State, Tennessee, Furman, South Carolina, Florida State, Mississippi, North Carolina Wilmington, Alabama, Miami (FL), NC State, Campbell, St. Francis (Pa.), and Southern. The top eight teams from the three-day event will advance to the NCAA Championship.
There are two other regionals in Illinois and California that will send eight teams to the NCAA Championship to make the field 24 teams. The NCAA Championship will be held from May 18-21 at the Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Alabama.
The Demon Deacons are coming off their two best finishes of the season at the Bryan National Collegiate and the ACC Championship. Wake Forest finished second in each event and shot the best round in school history in the third round of the ACC Championship (-9).
