Wake Forest Set For NCAA Championship

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team is set to begin action in the NCAA Championship on Tuesday, May 18 and will play through May 21 in Opelika, AL. The tournament will be held at the par 72, 6,215 yard Lake Course at Grand National.
The Demon Deacons advanced to the NCAA Championship after finishing fifth at the NCAA East Regional at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
The 13th ranked team nationally, Wake Forest will compete in the NCAA Championship for the eighth time in program history and for the third time in five years. The ranking, according to GolfWeek, is the highest of the season and is one place better than the previous poll. The best team finish in the NCAA Championships was in 1995 when team finished third in Wilmington, NC.
Wake Forest will be competing among 23 other teams which include Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, California, Duke, Florida State, Furman, Georgia, Michigan State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Southern California, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, UNLV, Vanderbilt, and Washington.
Christine Hallstrom leads the Demon Deacons into action with a 74.79 stroke average. The other participants for Wake Forest will be Ashley Hoagland, Deb Means, Jessica Castle and Mandy Goins.
