WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Two-time US Olympic volleyball team member and two-time National Player of the Year Logan Tom spent Wednesday afternoon with the Wake Forest volleyball team talking about her Olympic experience.
Tom, an international volleyball standout, was a starter for the United States at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and most recently in Athens, Greece, where she helped the US to a fifth-place finish. Tom was in town spending time with former Wake Forest tennis standout and ITA National Player of the Year Bea Bielik.
"This was a great opportunity to have two of the best female athletes in their respective sports speaking with our volleyball team," Head Coach Valorie Baker said. "Learning about their prospective on what it takes to compete at a high level, both in college and in the professional ranks was very informative and inspiring to our young team that is getting ready to compete in the first match of the season this Friday."
Wake Forest volleyball will enter the 2004 season this weekend at the Demon Deacon Invitational at Reynolds Gymnasium. The Deacs will face South Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m. and Marshall and Connecticut on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
