Wake Forest Volleyball To Open Season At Home

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's volleyball team will open the season this weekend by hosting the Demon Deacon Invitational with South Carolina, Marshall and Connecticut.
The Deacs will face South Carolina at 7 p.m. on Friday night in Reynolds Gymnasium. On Saturday, they will return to action against Marshall and University of Connecticut at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
The Demon Deacons finished the 2003 season with a 21-10 overall record. Looking toward the upcoming season with the hope of their first ACC championship and NCAA tournament berth, the team will participate in four tournaments, including this weekends.
Wake Forest returns juniors Valerie Rydberg and Christy Williams, both 2003 AVCA All-America honorable mention selections. Rydberg, who was also selected to the All-ACC first team, led the team in kills, digs and service aces, while Williams, a second team All-ACC honoree, led the Deacs with 96 total blocks in 2003.
