Winston-Salem, NC - Head women's golf coach Dianne Dailey announced Monday the hiring of Hope Edge as the program's new assistant coach. Edge played four years at Oklahoma and spent the last season as a graduate assistant to the Sooner men's program.
Edge, a native of Hobart, Ok. graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2003 with a degree in communications. She recently finished her masters in human relations, also at Oklahoma. While in graduate school, Edge served as the graduate assistant to the men's golf team.
Edge played four years on the Oklahoma women's team and was captain her senior year. While an undergraduate Hope served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Board, she was an NGCA Academic All-American and was four times named to the Academic Big 12 Team. She finished her Sooner golf career with a 76.2 stroke average her senior year.
After playing several Future Tour events, she decided to turn her golf interests to coaching.
"We are excited to add Hope to our staff," said Dailey. "She comes very highly recommended by all who worked with her at Oklahoma. She has collegiate playing and coaching experience and was an outstanding student at Oklahoma. Because she understands the importance of combining academics with competitive athletics, Hope is an excellent match of us. She is eager to learn more about coaching and teaching. I am looking forward to working with her and I know the students are too."
The women's golf team resumes play and begins their spring season in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, Feb. 21-23.
