The Wake Forest women's tennis team opens its spring season with weekend with a pair of matches, against Charlotte and UNC Greensboro. The team's first match of the spring against the 49ers will be played at 11:00am at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center. The second match against the Spartans will begin at noon.
Currently, the Demon Deacons are ranked 30th nationally as a team. Senior Karin Coetzee and sophomore Ashlee Davis have recently been ranked among the top-100 Division I college tennis players in both singles and doubles, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Coetzee, ranked 18th in the pre-season, moved up to 16th in the national rankings, while Davis is ranked 77th.
After this weekend, the Deacs will travel to Illinois, where they will try and avenge last seasons 4-3 loss to the Fighting Illini. From that point, Wake will face Notre Dame, a team that the Deacs defeated last spring, 7-0.
