Ingold and Antonelli Honored By Baseball America

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest senior Ben Ingold and sophomore Matt Antonelli were each listed among the top 25 prospects for the respective class in the entire country by Baseball America Tuesday. Ingold, a shortstop, was ranked as the 23rd best prospect among seniors, while Antonelli, a third basemen, was listed as the 13th best prospect among sophomores.
Ingold, a native of Durham, N.C., begins his fourth year as the team's everyday shortstop. He batted .361 with three home runs and 43 RBI in 2004. He led the Demon Deacons in batting, on-base percentage (.419), hits (78) and doubles (14).
Antonelli, a native of Peabody, Mass., returns after a solid freshman campaign. He hit .305 last season with two home runs, 37 RBI and 18 stolen bases. He led the Demon Deacons in runs scored (51) and walks (32).Antonelli then participated in the All-Star Game this summer on the Cape. He was also rated as the third best prospect out of the ACC for the 2006 MLB Draft.
Wake Forest opens its 2005 schedule on Thursday, February 10 at Winthrop. The home opener is slated for the following Tuesday, February 15 against Davidson at Hooks Stadium.
