Hello!
We are back and well into the ACC Season.
We've played three games since we last wrote. Maryland ended up being a disappointing night, for both us and the men who played afterwards. Not a good trip for the Deacs, but we didn't have much time to think about it, as we were off to Boston early the next morning.
We didn't go into the city but saw Fenway Park as we drove by (poor Skarbek!) Mel says go Braves. It was a pretty city with lots of old houses and trees. Sarah got to see the Atlantic Ocean and eat fresh muscles so she was thrilled. Keeping with the busy theme, we were off to practice on Saturday with an intense game of walking soccer. It was pretty uneventful except for Nikki's "play of the game." Finally we finished off Saturday with a delicious dinner and a video session.
Sunday we made it to the field, finally, after an accidental tour of the city. We came out and played as a team with Jaco and Jayme really picking their game up to another level and both scoring. Jaco had the game winner in dramatic fashion with 1:20 left on the clock. It was Boston College's first loss of the season and we were really proud of the effort after a long weekend! Overall it was a great trip but the cups at the game and the huge towels afterward were probably the best part of BC.
This week we just had one game against NC State, and with a great motivation job by Coach Tony we came out and got the job done in the second half, winning 1-0. We had a lot of easy chances and finally scored the really hard one. The win earned us the rest of the weekend off, so we could get caught up on school and relax a little bit.
Off the field the only major event is Tripp's inspiring running club up at Spry Stadium. We have a huge game this week against Duke on Wednesday. We haven't beaten them since we've been here at Wake so will keep you posted on that. Then we return home to face Clemson Sunday afternoon at Spry!
Hope to see you there!
