Deacons Finish In 12th Place At Bank Of Tennessee

JONESBOROUGH (TN) - Junior Sean Moore shot a 1-under par 71 and Wake Forest improved its team score by six strokes, but the Demon Deacons still finished 12th in the 15-team Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate here Sunday.

The 11th-ranked Deacons shot a 5-over 293 today at The Ridges golf course and finished just one stroke out of 10th place. Moore's 71 today gave him a 54-hole total of 3-over 219, which tied for 16th place overall.

Senior All-American Kyle Reifers finished the tournament 7-over par (223) and tied for 31st place. Sophomore Webb Simpson, who is ranked fourth nationally, finished with a 9-over 225. Senior Doug Manchester shot an 11-over 227 and freshman Marc Gladson shot a 14-over 230.

South Carolina ran away with the team title, winning by eight strokes over second-place Auburn. TCU finished third and host East Tennessee State took fourth place.

East Tennessee State's Rhys Davies won the individual race by three strokes after firing a 4-under par 68 today. South Carolina's Florian Fritsch finished second and Virginia Tech's Carl Wakely took third.

Wake Forest will send three golfers - Barr Blanton, Matt McLean and Chad Wilcox - to the ECU Pirate Invitational Monday and Tuesday in Greenville, NC. Wake's next team event will be Isleworth Invitational in Orlando (FL) Oct. 23-25.
