Women's Golf in Third at Landfall Tradition

Wilmington, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team completed the first round of the Landfall Tradition on Friday in third place. The Demon Deacons fired a 20-over par 308. The 54-hole event, hosted by UNC Wilmington, is being contested at the Country Club of Landfill's Pines-Ocean Course. The par is 72 and yardage is 6,070 yards.
Purdue took the 18-hole lead firing a 14-over par 302. Virginia is second two shots behind. Following Wake Forest is Tulsa in fourth at 21-over par, 309. Tulane, Michigan and South Florida are tied for fifth at 28-over par 316.
Junior Mandy Goins shot a one-over 73 to place in third overall. She stands three shots behind Tulsa's Liesl Hasbrouck and one shot behind Virginia's Leah Wigger.
Junior Maggie Simons carded a four-over par 76 for the Deacons and is in a six-way tie for ninth place after the opening day.
Freshman Nannette Hill added a six-over 78 for Wake Forest, placing in a tie for 19th. Sophomore Laura Crawford fired a nine-over par 81 and is in a tie for 34th. Freshman Jean Chua rounded out the Deacons with a 12-over par 84.
