Barclay Becomes Wake Forest's All-Time Leading Rusher, Scorer...
Chris Barclay continues to climb the ACC and Wake Forest record books. Today, he carried 18 times for 204 yards and two touchdowns. He now has 3,903 career yards.
Rushing Yards:
- he passed James McDougald (1976-79) to become Wake Forest's all-time leading rusher.
- he passed Raymond Priester of Clemson for 9th place in ACC history.
- he passed James McDougald of Wake Forest for 8th place in ACC history.
Scoring:
- he breaks the Wake Forest career scoring record held by Wilson Hoyle (1986-89). Barclay now has 234 career points.
Touchdowns:
- his 38th career rushing touchdown, which came in the third quarter, tied him for 6th place in ACC history.
All-Purpose Yards:
- he passed Anthony Williams (1988-91) for fourth place in the Wake Forest record book for career all-purpose yards.
- he passed John Leach (1990-93) for third place in the Wake Forest record book for career all-purpose yards.
- he passed Michael Ramseur (1982-85) for second place in the Wake Forest record book for career all-purpose yards.
200 Yard Games:
- his 200-yard performance today was the third of his career, tied for the second-most in ACC history with Amos Lawrence, Natrone Means, Mike Voight and Charlie Wysocki. Only Thomas Jones of Virginia (6) has more.

- he needs 57 rushing yards to pass Warrick Dunn of Florida State for 7th place in ACC history.

Barclay Long Runs...
Chris Barclay's 68-yard run in the first quarter was his longest run of the season, the second-longest in Barclay's career and 14th-longest run in school history. Later, he broke off a 71-yard touchdown run which eclipsed his earlier mark. His career-long rush was a 74-yarder against Maryland in 2003.
Starting Notes...
Bryan Andrews made his first start of the season in place of the injured Jeremy Thompson (ACL). Steve Vallos, Arby Jones and Steve Justice all started on the offensive line. They are the only players on offense to start every game this year. Patrick Ghee, Matt Robinson, Alphonso Smith all started on defense, the only players to start every game on defense.
Plack Attack...
Plackemeier had two 50-plus yard punts (55 and 51), his 15th and 16th of the season, the 62nd and 63rd of his career.
Bryant Scores First Touchdown of 2005...
De'Angelo Bryant scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, his first of the season and second of his career. He scored one in 2003 against East Carolina.
Andrews Scores First Touchdown Of 2005...
Micah Andrews' six-yard touchdown run was his first touchdown rush of the season. Last year, Andrews scored six times.
Swank Continues Hot Streak...
Sam Swank's field goals of 45, 38 and 27 yards were his sixth, seventh and eighth consecutive successful attempts. Swank even recorded his first career punt in the fourth quarter.
Gattis Intercepts A Pass For The Third Straight Week...
Josh Gattis' interception in the second quarter was his third in as many weeks and his fifth of the season.
Mauk Rolls Into The Endzone...
Benjamin Mauk's six-yard touchdown rush was second of the season, his first since the season opener against Vanderbilt.
Ghee Whiz...
Patrick Ghee's third quarter interception was his first career pick in 31 games and his 19th career start.
Wake Forest Beats Duke By 38 points...
The 44-6 victory for the Demon Deacons over the Blue Devils is the largest margin of victory in the all-time series for Wake Forest. The previous high was 32 points during the 1889 and 1924 seasons. The Deacs did not allow Duke to score in the second-half. It is the first time this season that Wake Forest has held a team scoreless for an entire half and first time since last season's finale against Maryland. Wake Forest blanked the Terps in the second-half of a 13-7 loss.
Deacons Shut Down The Run...
Wake Forest limited Duke to just 50 yards on 31 carries. The 50 yards rushing is the fewest allowed by the Deacons in the Jim Grobe era.
Wake Forest Gallops Past Blue Devils...
Wake Forest rushed for a season-high 419 yards on 51 carries. The 419 yards rushing are the most by the Deacons in the Jim Grobe era -- besting the 407-yard effort against ECU earlier this season. The 419 yards rushing ranks fourth best in school history. The school record is 528 yards against Tulsa on Oct. 16, 1971.
More Records In The Grobe Era...
Wake Forest piled up 44 points on the afternoon. The 44 points is tied for the second most under Jim Grobe. Wake Forest had 44 earlier this season against ECU and 45 versus Clemson on Nov. 1, 2003. Wake Forest defeated the Blue Devils by 38 points which is the second largest margin of victory for the Demon Deacons under Jim Grobe. Wake Forest beat NC A&T by 39 points on Sept. 18, 2004.
