
Women's Golf Finishes Second at Landfall Tradition

Wilmington, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished in second place at the Landfall Tradition on Sunday. The Demon Deacons fired a one-over par 289 and finished with a 30-over, 894 total. The 54-hole event, hosted by UNC Wilmington, was contested at the Country Club of Landfall's Pines-Ocean Course. The par is 72 and yardage is 6,070 yards.
Purdue captured the team title with a 13-over par 877. Virginia followed behind Wake Forest shooting a 42-over 906 and placing third. Tulsa fired a three-round total of 912, 48-over par. Tulane placed fifth with a 58-over 922.
Nannette Hill shot a two-under par 70 to lead the Deacons on Sunday. The freshman had seven birdies on the day including the opening three holes. Hill finished in a tie for fourth with a five-over total of 221.
Junior Maggie Simons carded a one-under 71 and also turned in a five-over 221 for the tournament. Simons made the turn at three-under par before bogeying two of the last four to shoot a 71. Simons also tied for fourth.
Junior Mandy Goins shot a second consecutive three-over 75 on Sunday to finish the tournament with a seven-over par 223. Goins finished in an eighth place tie.
Freshman Jean Chua fired a one-over par 73 on Sunday. Chua shot rounds of 84-75-73=232, 16-over par and placed in 23rd.
Sophomore Laura Crawford shot a three-over 75 to round out the Deacons. Crawford shot a 17-over par 233 and finished in a tie for 24th.
