DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team trailed for the majority of the second half, but the Demon Deacons were able to push the game into overtime and defeat Davidson, 87-84, Saturday afternoon. Senior Cotelia Bond-Young hit six from beyond the arc, en route to 29 total points and now ties the Wake Forest record for career three-pointers.

Bond-Young now has 193 career three pointers, which puts her at the top of the Wake Forest record books alongside Nicole Levesque, who played for the Deacs from 1991-94.

Senior Liz Strunk also reached a career milestone against Davidson, hitting her 1,000th career point early in the first half. Closing the day with 15 total points, Strunk becomes the 14th Wake Forest player to join the elite club. Freshman Deirdre Naughton also scored in double figures with 18 points and earned her first collegiate double-double by adding 10 rebounds.

Wake Forest rallied back from an eight point deficit in the second half to tie the score at 77 off a free throw by Bond-Young with 37 seconds remaining in regulation. Earning the rebound off the second free throw, the Deacs held onto possession of the ball to push the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, Wake went up by two with a pair of free throws, but it was quickly knotted again at 81 all. Another pair the line gave the Deacs the lead and they continued to push ahead and eventually took the game by three.

Wake Forest held the lead in the beginning of the game until a 10 point run by Davidson at 19-14 pushed the Cats ahead. Hitting a trio from beyond the arc, Bond-Young helped the Deacs chip away at the lead and then another three by Naughton knotted the score at 39. Hitting a jumper with 20 seconds remaining in the half, Tia Washington gave the Cats the two point advantage going into the break.

Davidson closed the day shotting 52.4 percent from the field, after starting the game by shooting 70 percent in the first half. Wake Forest shot 45.3 percent from the field and outrebounded the Cats 38 to 33.

For the Cats Jessica Mitchell had 23 points, while Janell Crayton was not far behind with 22 points.

Wake Forest will continue its season-long four game road swing against Towson, Tuesday, Nov. 29. Game time against the Tigers is set for 7:30 p.m.
