ITA Regional Rankings Announced

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The regional edition of the women's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings have been released for the 2005-06 campaign. Redshirt sophomore Alex Hirsch was tagged as the No. 7 singles player in the southeast region, while junior Ashlee Davis was named No. 9.

Hirsch and Davis were also pegged as the No. 6 regional double pair.

Entering the fall season, Hirsch was ranked as the preseason No. 63 singles player nationally by the ITA and finished her fall campaign with a team-best 10-2 singles record.

Davis, who was ranked as the No. 42 preseason singles player, finished the fall season with a 8-4 overall record. Entering the spring season Davis carries a 29-22 career record in singles.

Playing with Hirsch in a total of eight doubles matches in the fall, the pair closed the fall season with a 5-3 overall record.

The Deacs will open its fall season on Friday, Jan. 27 against Purdue. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
