Princeton, N.J. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team was well-represented in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's regional rankings, released earlier this week by the organization. Three of Jeff Zinn's Demon Deacon singles players and two doubles teams were listed in the top 15 in the Mideast Region which encompasses Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee.
Deacon junior Todd Paul is ranked sixth in singles. He finished the fall season with an 11-4 record, highlighted by a consolation draw championship at the ITA All-America Tournament in Tulsa.
Senior Andrew Hamar checks in at No. 12. Hamar posted a 7-3 mark this fall including a round of 16 showing at the ITA All-America Tournament.
At No. 15, freshman Cory Parr completes Wake Forest's list of individuals in the rankings. Parr made a splash at the ITA Mideast Regional Championships in Chapel Hill, the final event of the fall, by reaching the quarterfinals. He ended his first fall season with a 9-3 record.
In doubles, Parr and sophomore Mariusz Adamski are ranked eighth while Paul and senior Joe Bates are ranked 13th. Parr and Adamski went 9-3 and reached the semifinals of the ITA Mideast Regional Championships. Bates and Paul did not play a lot during the fall, but the veteran duo won two of their three matches.
Wake Forest begins its spring schedule on January 28 against East Tennessee State and East Carolina.
