The Wake Forest women's golf team co-hosts with the University of North Carolina Greensboro the eighth annual Bryan National Collegiate Golf Tournament. The impressive field features 17 schools, including eight ranked in the top-20.
Auburn, Duke, Florida, Furman, Georgia, Louisville, N.C. State, Oklahoma State, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee, Tulane, North Carolina, Vanderbilt and Virginia join the Deacons and the Spartans in 2005.
Duke has won the tournament five times, including each of the last four years. The Deacons claimed the title in 2000. Washington, who will not be competing in this year's event, owns the only other title (1999).
Wake Forest brings Maggie Simons, Christine Hallstrom, Laura Crawford, Mandy Goins and Julie McKenna. Joy Juskowich will also compete as an individual for the Deacons. Senior Ashley Hoagland will not play this weekend due to an injury.
Expected thunderstorms on Friday afternoon altered the format of the tournament. Instead of the standard form of play, the opening round of this year's event will be played in a shot gun formation. All teams tee-off at 9 a.m. Friday morning at the Bryan Park Champions Course.
Livestats will be available throughout the day at Golfstat.com and all results and information can be found at the conclusion of the day at WakeForestSports.com.
