Women's Tennis Travels To Texas for Spring Break

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team will close its seven game road swing with a pair of matches over spring break in Texas. The Demon Deacons (4-3, 0-0 ACC) will face #13 Texas on Sunday, March 3 and #39 Texas A&M on Tuesday, March 8.
The 33rd ranked Demon Deacons will enter the pair of spring break matches coming off a tough 6-1 loss to #19 Tennessee. In that match against the Lady Vols, Wake Forest took away victories in one singles match and one doubles match. Senior Karin Coetzee, ranked 16th nationally, defeated 50th ranked Sabita Maharaj 6-1, 6-4 at the number one singles position, while in doubles play, Coetzee and Danielle Schwartz defeated Ashley Robards and Ghizela Schutte 8-2.
The University of Texas opened its season on a six game winning streak that included a 4-3 season opening victory over #14 Tulane and a 4-3 victory over #22 Notre Dame. Most recently, the Longhorns dropped their first match against #4 Northwestern, 2-5.
Texas A&M enters the match against the Deacs with a 4-8 overall record that includes matches against fellow ACC members Maryland and Duke. Playing Oklahoma State on March 5, the Aggies will look to continue on a two match winning streak before facing the Deacs.
